Sweet Lily of the Valley

For the beauty of the earth...
for the glory of the skies,
for the love which from our birth
over and around us lies;
Lord of all, to thee we raise
this our hymn of grateful praise.

Grateful for this season of spring...
Everything is fresh and new!

A new day...
...a new beginning...
...another chance to try again!

:)

Beautiful! I love lily of the valley. I went to Catholic school and I would always take lily of the valley to school during the month of May as we celebrated the month of Mary - sweet memories.

I love so much the lily of the valley! It reminds me of my grandmother (whom we called Mutti), who also had many lilacs. One of those plants of my childhood is in my house now :)

Love the smell of Lily of the Valley, hate how it takes over a garden space. So I don't grow it anymore but I sill love it's scent.

Awww...I just love this post! Is there a more perfect flower than lilly of the valley? The ancient watery-blue glass, an embossed crown and crackled old white paint. Perfection.

When I read that hymn I thought immediately of my sweet Granny and sitting nest to her in church with her gloved hand on mine.

One of my favorite hymns ... the melody will be a companion today, and that's a gift.

I love lily-of-the-valley, it's my favorite flower, along with peonies. I never had a set of china when I got married, so I started picking up Kayson's Golden Rhapsody pieces when I find them because they have lily-of-the-valley on them.

love lily of the valley.....as old as I am, the scent of it still reminds me of my First Holy Communion.

Ah the seduction of the early Spring flowers... though their Summer garden counterparts may rival them for intensity of colour, most pale greatly when it comes to their heavenly scent.
Beautiful photos!

Oh, Laura! I so enjoy looking at your pictures --- they make me smile. I find you love the same things that I do, but you picture them in a much more eloquent way. And now I see that we also enjoy the same music -- I'll have John Rutter's arrangement of "For the Beauty" running through my mind all day today. Sweet music! Thank you!

Laura,
That is one of my very favorite hymns. And lilies of the valley are one of my very favorite flowers. I am grateful because today, in our brown Minnesota garden, we have one bright yellow daffodil!
Big hugs, Laura. I hope the new life of this season helps to heal your heart.
